Richard Chai Fall Winter 2015 full runway show VIDEO below;
Richard Chai Fall Winter 2015 is rooted in a downtown sensibility combined with expert technicality and sharp tailoring. 1990’s references from Chai’s youth, along with expressive angst and classic defiance transcend in the practice of layering with sportiness and protection from the elements. Navy, winter white and cool grey set the autumnal color pallet seen throughout the men’s and women’s collections tying the pairs together.
Graphic prints taken from broken marble are hyper intensified in electric blues, greens and pinks referencing early ’90s album art. Print is then placed carefully on puffer coats, hoodies and graphic t-shirts.
Outerwear being key for the season can be seen in warm voluminous anoraks with matching liners and ribbed jersey tonal paneling. Touches of fox fur are added on the hood as an extra touch of luxury while protecting from the winter chill. Underneath are tailored trousers with a slight slouch and sharp slim blazers. For women tomboy pleated soft skirts, expertly tailored wool/cotton day dresses and evening cocktail dresses can be picked out from underneath the luxe oversized brushed wool coats.
Keeping with the core of the Richard Chai brand; soft cashmere sweaters and thick cotton hoodies, zipping into cocoons around the neck are mixed with proportional layering for style and warmth. The looseness of the men’s and women’s silhouettes contrast the precision of tailoring found beneath.
